Hi everyone, Noah here, I honestly can’t believe that this past Tuesday marked a whole year since the original release of my debut single “Alright Last Night”. I didn’t think it was right to not make a proper post about it, hence why this is on my website and not on the Facebook page, so I can properly talk about my feelings toward it all.
Honestly, the anniversary proved to be quite bittersweet. I was amazed at the time that’s lapsed and elated that people still care about my music in any form, but also it left me in a kind of reflective mood that I won’t go into the details of. All I’ll say is that sometimes doors have to close for new ones to fully open and, whilst I regret my part in how things turned out with my studio collaborators on that song, I think it was all probably for the best that that door closed. I’d like to once again unreservedly thank Jordan Watts, Chris Payn, and Matt Black for their instrumental and production work on that song.
In terms of what comes next, I think it’s time to tease something more than “big things coming soon”, so tease I will. I’ve recently begun working with one of my oldest friends, a phenomenal talent by the name of Billy Cook (who you might recognise from co-writing “Alright Last Night”), on new material!
At the moment we’re just whipping the songs into shape, making sure they’re ready for recording, and then we’ll be doing the instrumental recordings remotely, before meeting up to record the vocals in person. Once that’s done, we’ll be sending the tracks off to a very cool sound engineer, who’ll be mixing and mastering them ready for a 4-track EP release hopefully in the first 2-3 months of next year!
The current plan (which is obviously subject to change) is to have the lead single out just after the new year, as it’s a very personal track to me, and that release would fall fairly close to a significant date for the subject material. We’re also hoping to have an EP launch gig when the full thing drops as well, complete with support acts and multi-band jams, and that’s most likely gonna serve as both the launch event for the EP and the long-delayed launch of my live career! Remember though guys, I don’t make promises anymore, and this could all completely change in an instant…but that’s part of the fun, right?
I just want to thank you all once again, from the absolute pit of my heart, for your continued support over the last year, and for your (hopefully) continuing support in the run-up to EP number 2 and beyond: I wouldn’t be able to do what I love and fully enjoy it without an audience, so for said audience to stick around for more than a year is the joy of a lifetime, and I cannot thank you enough.
This last year has been an interesting one, at times irritating and anxious and at others exhilarating and fun, but never boring. Let’s see what the next year has in store for us, yeah? Cool.
Until next time,
Noah Brown
